One group per connection.

Every AI connection receives a short-lived token for one selected gift group. It cannot move itself to another group.

The MCP endpoint publishes protected-resource metadata that points clients to the Giftafari app for authorization. Authorization uses PKCE S256, exact redirect URIs, narrow scopes, rotated refresh tokens, and live membership checks.

Claude

  1. Open Customize, then Connectors. Team and Enterprise owners use Organization settings, then Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector and paste the MCP URL.
  3. Choose Connect, pick one Giftafari group, and approve the listed permissions.

Custom connectors are available on Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise. Free accounts can add one custom connector. Organization settings can limit availability.

ChatGPT

  1. Open Settings, then Security and login, and enable Developer mode.
  2. Open Plugins, choose the plus button, and add the MCP URL.
  3. Complete OAuth, then review every write approval before confirming.

Plugin availability depends on plan, region, workspace role, model, and interface. A workspace administrator can disable it.

Approvals and revocation

Permanent deletion, lifecycle changes, membership removal, ownership transfer, group leave, and connection revocation use prepare then commit. The approval binds the actor, group, operation, exact arguments, current version, and a five-minute single-use token.

Revoke a client from AI connections or Account settings. Old access and refresh tokens stop working.

Retries

Tools that create a person, list, gift, claim, or invitation require an idempotencyKey argument of up to 200 characters; other write tools accept one. An assistant that retries with the same key and the same input within 24 hours gets the first result back instead of a duplicate.
